Alaska Youth Music is a 12 hour music camp for students 12 years of age and entering the 6th grade through students entering the 12th grade in 2019. Camp will be divided into ensembles and is an excellent opportunity for any young musician to improve their skills, both individually and as part of a group. The week will end with an evening performance open to the family and friends of each ensemble member. A certificate of completion will be given to each student. Students may chose from one of the following ensemble groups to participate. Some classes are limited so do not delay in signing up !!
Financial
$150.00 Per Camper
Payment, Registration and Waiver are due by June 30th, 2019.
Checks must be written and mailed to the hosting school along with a copy of your waiver.

Performance:
A closing performance will begin at 6:30pm on August 1st. Students will perform with their ensemble group and participate in a group performance.
The performance will be held on the west Side of the building ( church entrance) in room. ......
Students must arrive at 5:45 for set up and rehearsal. Family and friends are encouraged to attend.
Choose an Ensemble
Choir
Instructed by Dan McElrath & local music teacher Courtney Stinson. Choir ensemble introduces students to new songs and will equip them with exercises and creative tools needed to participate in a dynamic choir. An ensemble and group performance will close the week on the evening of 4 day.
Class limit is 30, and each student will need to bring a water bottle and snack(s)
Percussion
Percussionist Cameron Cartland. will lead students to explore the many instruments in the percussion family.
Students will develop new skills, learn instrument origins and learn to confidently function in a band setting. An Ensemble and group performance will close the week on the evening of day 4.
Class limit is 10, and students are encouraged to bring their own sticks or mallets, water bottle and snack bag.
Keyboarding & Synth
Sara Anderholm and Hallie Chiu are both local piano instructors. Students will work on sight reading, accompaniment, improvisation rhythm and listening skills for playing in groups. Students will also explore the sounds of a synthesizer. An ensemble and group performance will close the week on the evening of day 4. Students must have 1 year piano instruction prior to sign up.
Class is limited to 12. Bring a water bottle & snack bag
Band
Joel Hoffacker is a local band instructor and will work with students of brass & woodwinds to develop tone quality, articulation, rhythm, style and musicality. Students must have their own instrument and have at least one year of experience with it before signing up. An ensemble and group performance will close the week on the evening of day 4.
Class size is limited to 20. Students must bring instrument, water bottle and snack bag.
